Vegan girls truly feel at home in Serbia

Before we set out on our travels we were a little worried about how we would go in Serbia. It's been close to 30 years since we were last in the country and much has occurred over that time. Knowing little Serbian and being vegans we thought we would have a hard time.

Well as it turns out we were sooo wrong. All of our of relatives made us feel really welcome and went to a huge effort to cater for our vegan diet, included being taken on the first night to a local health shop just at the end of our street. We also stumbled across a vegan version of a traditional Serbian snack "burek" (see photo) which we both loved when we were kids. Even the Serbian cats put on a warm welcome for us.

Our Uncle Momcilo acted as our tour guide over the 4 days we were there and took us to some amazing scenic places. By the end of the trip Ange had picked up quite a bit of Serbian and with the help of our cousin Dajana who speaks some English, we managed to communicate really well.
