Morrissey pilgrimage

Sorry for the long break in posts. We have had such a hectic time over the last few days. We arrived in Paris yesterday, but before that we spent a few days down in Manchester. What can I say...Manchester does not have that many attractions but a visit to the Salford Lads Club well and truly makes up for any of the shortcomings of the city. For those of you who do not know, this is an iconic site to visit if you are a Smiths/Morrissey fan.

Fortunately for us the club doors were open that day so we not only got to get a picture of ourselves out the front but also got to go inside and visit "The Smiths" room - which has been decked out in fan paraphernalia, news clippings, autographed pictures and even a framed shirt of Morrissey's which was worn in the video for 'Boy with the thorn in his side'. It was truly amazing.

Here's a link to the video itself

  1. Not many attractions in Manchester? You're kidding - how about:

    - Mark E. Smith's house
    - The Joy Division memorial (there must be one somewhere)
    - The set of Coronation Street
    - The set of Shameless
    - The Hacienda
    - The birthplace of Cheryl Walton?

Oh well, maybe on your next trip!

  2. Well if Cheryl had not left for Adelaide I would probably have had better things to say about it!

Sounds like you need to a trip to Manchester Steve.

  3. Am pea green with envy of course.
Did you get to smell this shirt? Or did you just have to reminisce over the lingering scent of Morrissey that remains in your nostrils from his Adelaide show...?
