From vegan hell to vegan paradise - Florence

We have been too busy eating like crazy in the beautiful city of Florence to stop and post to our blog. After surviving 3 days in Cinque Terre with limited vegan options we were overjoyed to find there are some great vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Florence.

Our favourite restaurant was Dolce Vegan - we went twice in the 3 days we were in Florence. The place is run by a brother and sister who have been vegetarian since birth and became vegans more recently. They have some really great vegan versions of Italian dishes, the ravioli & tortellini were really tasty.

Here's a picture of me enjoying my meal, including the grated cheese supplied on each table!

WE finished off our meal at Dolce Vegan with an icecream

Libreria Brac was another amazing find - a vegetarian cafe/art bookshop with a beautiful garden area and relaxing atmosphere

We also managed to get some sightseeing done between meals. We experienced our longest line-up for the Duomo. The climb to the top was a bit hard going but again the views were worth it in the end.

Here's the view from the Duomo:

And some of the more challenging stairs...

  1. Given the ubiquity of food on this blog, one might almost expect the two of you to come back looking like the two fat ladies of TV cooking show fame. However it looks like all that stair climbing, walking between villages and bike riding has offset your Euro gourmandizing nicely. Look forward to seeing you soon!

  2. Oops, only just saw your comment on the last blog entry. Well despite all the carbs, you both appear to have retained your sylphiness. Not sure about the woman whose butt you caught going up those stairs though!
