Veggie delights

We are way behind in our posts re London's vegan delights - from our blog it looks like we have not eaten since we got off the plane, which is just crazy because me and Ange are crazy about food (and wine).

So here is a list of some of the places we have visited with pics of the dishes.

Saf (@ Shoreditch)

Nice atmosphere, good service. A little disappointed with the food flavour wise (just not as special as we thought it should be), though dessert was a knockout.
Entrees:
Wan ton soup & Gyoza dumplings

Mains: Spring Risotto (Pearl barley with mange tout, pea and dill in cashew cream served with shaved asparagus salad) and
Black Tofu (Baked organic tofu marinated in miso served with steamed rice, kimchi, steamed bok choy and miso-sambal sauce

Dessert:

Tiramisu (Layered Saf mascarpone & coffee-walnut savioardi) yum yum!

222 Veggie Vegan Restaurant
(222 North End Rd West Brompton

100 % vegan restaurant which offers a buffet style all you can eat lunch menu (selection of hot dishes and salads) for 7 pound 50 and an a la carte menu for dinner. We tried both the lunch and dinner menus. Much preferred the lunch buffet as it was great value for money and the food was really fresh and tasty. Below are pictures of our lunch dishes:

Dessert: Apricot and almond cake with vegan custard

Manna Restaurant
(4 Erskine Rd, Primrose Hill)

Beautiful looking restaurant, lovely atmosphere and the food was pretty special though there were some disappointments.

For starters we shared the basil & cashew cheese croquettes (served on a bed of watercress & pea sprouts with our homemade chilli jam) for £8. - this dish was amazing - the cashew cream was just spectacular. We followed this with the Ravioli (crisped ravioli filled with wild mushroom & walnut pâté with fennel cream sauce, sundried tomato pesto & balsamic reduction) and the Enchilada tradicional (rolled corn tortillas baked with espinaca, bortelli beans, sweet potato & pumpkin seed cheese filling, smothered in a rich enchilada sauce)
